Broadway Bound and Beyond

Broadway Bound and Beyond: The Course

The career foundation every working musician needs (but nobody teaches)

Music school teaches you to play. It rarely teaches you how the work actually finds you: who recommends you, why one sub gets called back and another never hears from the contractor again, how to stay afloat between gigs. Most musicians learn that part the hard way, years in, after the phone has already gone quiet.

I spent 33 years as a working musician in New York, 26 of them in musical theater on and off Broadway, from my first Broadway chair on Memphis in 2009 to Ain't Too Proud and Cats: The Jellicle Ball. This course turns what I learned, and what I wrote in my book Broadway Bound and Beyond, into six modules on how relationships become work, why versatility keeps you employed, and how to build financial resilience in a freelance career.

It's for musicians on any instrument, especially college students getting ready for professional life. You'll leave knowing how to build the reputation that gets you called, before you need the call.
